Faculty of Business and Economics

Undergraduate student studying Economic and Financial Studies at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia

About Us

The Faculty of Business and Economics offers an innovative, flexible and specialised mix of disciplines within the five departments of Accounting and Finance, Actuarial Studies, Business, Business Law, and Economics. These distinct, but complementary academic departments are augmented by the Applied Finance Centre, Graduate Studies Office and the Centre for Japanese Economic Studies.

The Faculty has enjoyed very strong growth in recent years and is the largest academic faculty at Macquarie and one of the largest commerce/economics divisions/faculties in Australia.

With its range of undergraduate and postgraduate offerings, the Faculty of Business and Economics is well positioned as a provider of high quality education and offers a uniquely flexible course structure that sets it apart from more traditional universities.

Students can focus on becoming specialist economists, accountants, actuaries, demographers or statisticians or combine other major studies to pursue interests such as organisational psychology, computing, environmental management, languages or other electives.

This structure provides students with significant flexibility while retaining a high degree of specialisation and is responsive to community needs and employer demands for a portfolio of generic business skills in our students.

Accreditation of our programs by leading professional bodies confirms the relevance and excellence of our degrees.

Graduates of our programs have a record of employment levels and starting salaries well above the average for all Australian business schools.
