Research Degrees

The Faculty is committed to providing the support needed by its research students to undertake quality research and complete their degree on time. Support includes teaching and supervision; adequate physical resources; and funding for essential research costs and approved conference travel.

Macquarie values highly the contribution of postgraduate students to the University’s research program. The University has distinguished itself as one of Australia’s leading research universities through outstanding achievements in terms of Centres of Excellence, research income, citations ranking, its highly successful Research Park, and commercialisation of intellectual property 

The Faculty of Business and Economics offers Higher Degree Research Programs leading to Doctor of Philosophy and Masters of Pilosophy. Please note that the Faculty offers PhD scholarships in addition to the University scholarships.

Students who do not satisfy the requirement of a substantial research experience, may qualify for entry to a PhD by successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods. 

Applicants for research degrees are expected to investigate the various research areas in the Faculty, scrutinize the appropriate Department websites and contact potential supervisors in their area of interest prior to completing their application. If supervisors are not available in the area of interest, applicants should contact the Higher Degree Research Co-ordinator in the Department or check out the research areas at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management.
